3. ACTIVE PASS

Ferry travellers between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen can spot this cluster of buildings as they travel through Active Pass. The compound includes the main residence and two guest houses. Designed to take advantage of the low-bank waterfront, the building transitions seamlessly from the inside living spaces to exterior patios, garden, and beachfront. A sheltered courtyard provides a barbecue and entertainment area, protected from the ocean breeze but still retaining visual connection to the foreshore and ocean through the transparency of the living space.
